Desiring God: The Baby in My Womb Leaped for Joy

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands.” (Psalms 8:3-6)

Gosh, when I read this passage, my heart stirred and I literally got shivers down my spine because of how beautifully it's written.

The main message of this sermon was about creation of life in all of its magnificence and glory from God. He creates life and takes it away. So who are we to decide the death of this unborn child? John Piper also goes on to tell the account of Elizabeth who became pregnant at an old age receives a visit from Mary. As soon as she was greeted by Mary, Elizabeth was filled by the Holy Spirit and the baby inside her womb "leaped for joy." Note the word Baby. Not an embryo, not a zygote or a fetus, but a baby--a child.
