"8Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. 9But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? 10You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you."
Dang, Paul's really layin it down on the people of Galatians. But I love verse 9. It's not that WE know God, but we are known BY God. Our feeble insignificant human minds cannot possibly begin to fathom the very knowledge of God. To say that we KNOW Him sounds so absolute and almost arrogant, as if to say that we got Him all figured out. Already you can sense the frustration in Paul, e.g. verse 11 "I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you." To an extent, I can relate to this kind of frustration.. It's really discouraging as a leader when you try your best to serve God and His people yet they show as to not even a twitch of acknowledgment. These Galatians must have been pretttty bad to have received such a reaction from Paul.
