“Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”- Luke 9:23-24
This was always such a difficult concept for me to grasp ever since I was in Junior High. I used to think, "What? I have to deny myself in order to follow Him? What does that even mean??" Over the years, I've been learning what it really means to deny myself.. I've been humbled to the most extreme points just within these past three years. And it was only by God's grace that I was able to come out of my situations in one piece. We as humans are always so afraid to lose. We're afraid to lose in a bet, in games, in debates- we're afraid to lose our lives and lose the people we love. So we try so desperately to save and preserve the things that we possess any way we can by mummifying corpses, talking to "the spirit of our ancestors" but really it's just a cow, botoxing our faces til we can't even smile anymore. If only we knew that the only way to save and preserve our lives is through the Son of God which is Jesus Christ. Only once we surrender our lives to Him can we truly live eternally with Him.
