"11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." Titus 2:11-14
Throughout this whole chapter, self-control comes up often. It's interesting because I arbitrarily chose to read Titus and it happens to talk about something that I have been struggling with alot lately. As I am constantly faced to make decisions, I'm always tempted to choose the path less narrow. I always want the easy way out or what will get me a faster pay off. Sometimes it's so difficult to say No to worldly passions because our sins are too great. But even when we are discouraged and have fallen to sin, we have the great hope to look forward to that Christ will return and "redeem us from all wickedness." This encourages me to try harder. Try harder with my relationship with God.
