Aaron and I were talking last night about Christian books and how difficult it was to read through an entire book, and I realized that reading Christian books are very similar to the way we live our Christian lives. To me, Christian books are easy to get into and enjoy in the beginning because it's so encouraging and inspiring- but as you keep reading towards the middle to the end, you start getting bored of it because the content starts to sound a bit monotonous, which by then we eventually stop reading it altogether and start on another book. Isn't that kinda how our walk in Christ is? We get so pumped up for God initially- but then gradually that spiritual high starts to burn out and we go back to giving into temptations and just giving up. But those are what separates true warriors of God from the fools! God commands self-discipline from us. I'm not saying that if you read through a whole entire Christian book, then you are a good Christian- but it's a nice little parallel to think about. =)
Anyway- so I read the Prologue on the Living Sacrifice, and so far I like it. I'm used to reading fictional mystery thriller books during the summer, but perhaps it's time to mature a little =) I don't know why I was never into reading Christian books.. I think reading them would help reading the Bible more because they basically help interpret the Bible and relate it to our lives, which is difficult to do when you are just reading the Bible without any direction or help. I find the Bible quite challenging to read, I don't know about you.
Time to start out my summer! Let's start it out right. =)
