Matthew 16: Denial

"From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!" Matthew 16:21-22

How many times have I said the same thing Peter had said to Jesus? The only difference is that Peter only denied him three times whereas I've denied Jesus probably more times than I can remember.

"For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." Matthew 16:25

There are so many times I've tried to save my life for the sake of conformity and acceptance of the world. I think I still have a long way to go as far as truly dying to myself and follow Christ with everything I have, honestly speaking.. I find my human desires for the things of this world still overpowering my strive for purity at times. I still fall so many times throughout the day. I can't recall even one day where I went to bed with the satisfaction that I did not break God's heart. I am so much worse than Peter.. :c
