Matthew 4: Jesus was a human being like me and you.

"After fasting forty days and forty nights, he [Jesus] was hungry. (verse 2)" - That's an understatement.. The biggest thing I took away from this chapter was that Jesus was a human being. He wasn't a ghost or some bionic superhero of some sort- he had hunger pangs too when he skipped meals. When Jesus was at his weakest point, Satan came at him and began to tempt him. This is what Satan does. He sees us at our most vulnerable times and strikes. What a low blow, right? What Satan also does is attack when you're also at your spiritual highest, because he can't bear to see God's kingdom flourish, so he tries to break us even more. I think this is when we experience those "dry" times in our spiritual lives. We get tempted and it distracts us from moving forward with the Lord. Overcoming temptations is probably the most difficult obstacle for me- I have a higher chance of acing my math exam than resisting my worldly desires. But the Scripture tells us that overcoming our challenges isn't an impossible task! Satan came to Jesus three times, and three times Jesus turned him away. "Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. (verse 11)"
