John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

I think many times--more often than not, we as Christians forget or have become desensitized by the basis of our faith. Personally, I have been through days and weeks of "being a Christian", doing good works, praying, etc. but then I stop to wonder the reason why I am so privileged to do all these things. It's because of Jesus Christ. God's one and only son whom He loved so much. But you know what? He loved the world, He loved US so much more that He would willingly send His son down to earth and let him be tortured, persecuted, and then left dead on the cross for OUR sins. What kind of god in any other religion would do something like that? Would make such a great sacrifice for His little creations whom He can just play with us like we're toys? Our God does. I become so ashamed and humbled when I think about the times when I refused to give up even the tiniest things in my life for Him when what he sacrificed for me was a million times more difficult to do. But He says in the rest of the verse that He did this for a purpose. The purpose being, "that whoever believes in him should perish but have eternal life." Whoever believes in him. This is where salvation comes from. It comes from God who sent His beloved son to die on the cross for all the evil in this world and in our hearts. This is our God.
