“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”- Isaiah 53:5-6
Because of His wounds.. Because of His pain and suffering and finally death on a cross is the reason for our freedom. "By His wounds we are healed." Our wretched sins are forgiven paid by the blood of Christ. I don't think this gets emphasized enough to us. Or perhaps we have become desensitized to the very meaning of Christ hanging on the cross. With Good Friday and Easter coming up soon in the following month, let's go back to the basics of why we live for a God who would give up His one and only son for us.
