"Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”- Matthew 20: 17-19
When ever I think about the wonderful cross and how Jesus died for our sins, I feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit filling up my lungs, my heart, up my throat-- and out my mouth comes a song of joyous praise. It's one of those joyful sadness when you're sad but in a happy way. The world tells us death = bad/negative thing. God tells us that death = good/positive thing. In fact, He showed it through His son Jesus. My worldly humanly side is sad that Jesus had to go through all that suffering for me but at the same time I rejoice in it because through Him I was given the gift of grace and eternal life.
My hope and prayer is that this weekend of Good Friday and Easter would not be the only time of the year that we really think upon the cross.. But that we may be in constant reminder and meditation of the sacrifice that Jesus gave everyday of our lives.
