"4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." Romans 15:4
Everything we read from the Bible are to teach us so that we will grow. Some people take passages out of context and twist it into a negative thing- that Christianity is just full of do's and don'ts not realizing that the things that we are warned against is for our benefit. Even when I don't want to do my quiet time, I know that reading the Word is full of encouragements and teachings for me so that I might have hope for a better life- a life worthy of the calling that Jesus gave to me.
