1Corinthians 4: Scum of the Earth.

"Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world." (1 Corinthians 4:13)

Apostle Paul calls upon the church of Corinth to not forget that we are to be set apart from the world and become servants of Christ. Servanthood entails for us to be fools for Christ (verse 10) and the scum of the earth. This means that no matter what society says and deems acceptable, if it goes against the scriptures and ideology of Christianity, we need to be strong enough in Christ to stand firm in the Word. People will mock us, scorn us, and persecute us; but through all the suffering, God will restore and bless us in return. I survived through my one day of negativity and wallowing in my sorrows by reading the Word and although at the time I had difficulty even trusting in what the Lord said, I've realized how much encouragement God sent forth to me! Times will get rough, even worse than now guaranteed; but this is what separates the bench-warming Christians and the strong in faith. I pray that I may be the latter.
