Matthew 1-2 Birth of Jesus

Straight off the first book of the four gospels, the book of Matthew starts out by describing the birth of Jesus. Here's what I know about Jesus so far: 1) Baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a quaint little town. I imagine Joseph and Mary checking into a Motel 6 rather than into a Hyatt, where everyone would assume a "king" would stay. 2) Jesus didn't have the ideal family either. When Joseph heard that Mary was pregnant, he was going to divorce her. Jesus wasn't born into a perfect nuclear household; but his real family was God the Father. Although our family is important, they like us are only humans fully capable of making mistakes--even our parents. Therefore we take comfort in the knowledge that we have a perfect family and parent who is our Heavenly Father. Our love for Him must be so great that we put Him first even before our own family.
Already since the birth of Jesus, Christ came into this world humbly. This is my first lesson. To truly humble myself. My leadership position means nothing if I cannot lay my pride down before others.
